ISSUE RESOLUTION PROCESS

Try this issue resolution process:

  1. Determine if you are experiencing a QuickBooks software issue or an accounting error issue. (An example of a QuickBooks software issue would be an error message appearing on your screen. An example of an accounting error would be that your adjusted trial balance does not display the correct balances after adjusting entries.)

  2. If you are experiencing a QuickBooks software issue, try the renowned QuickBooks Live Community to see if anyone else has encountered the same issue and how to fix it: https://community.intuit.com/quickbooks-desktop If there is an error code on the warning screen you can enter the error number in the search field for QuickBooks Community to see other postings related to that specific error code. Another option is to try www.quickbooks.com/support.

  3. Check out Updates for your Computer Accounting with QuickBooks edition at www.My-QuickBooks.com. Scroll down to Updates section. See if an update resolves the issue.

  4. If you have an accounting error in your QuickBooks company file, try printing the journal report to track the error. Sometimes it is easier to see the error when viewing the associated journal entries, such as a missed bill payment or customer payment received.

  5. See FAQs Frequently Asked Questions (below).

  6. Take a break and review your work with fresh eyes.

  7. If you have not resolved the issue, complete the following step-by-step approach to forward to your instructor for assistance.

Try printing out the journal report and reviewing the journal entries for the period when the error occurred. Sometimes it is easier to track down the error in the journal.
